Today I went and got one of my three free credit reports from annualcreditreport.com This is the real free site, not that freecreditreport.com you see advertised on TV. The TV advertisements want you to sign up for a service to get your "free" credit report. This time I went and got my Transunion report. As expected, it showed a clean credit history with no late payments. There still was a number of advertisements for additional services that transunion was dying to provide for me, but I kept clicking through to get to the actual report. It's a good idea to get 1 report every 4 months so you are checking on your credit though out the year. One of the things they like to offer is a credit score calculation for $5-$10. Read the fine print. I didn't last year and ended up buying a score calculation that was not a FICO score but a "score advantage". Everybody still uses FICO scores for things like mortgage and loan interest rates, so don't buy something you don't need.
